If you want to improve your English and you are reading this then I congratulate you because you have already taken the first step to improvement. Reading is one of the two receptive skills and that’s exactly what you’re doing now. The other receptive skill is listening. This can take place almost anywhere at any time so I’ll leave it at that and continue with this blog.
The more you write the better you will become at it, so why not take the ‘bull by the horns’ and start writing your own blog. Start off with a sentence, or a paragraph, and pretty soon you’ll become an effective writer.
Mistakes are a great thing because if we never made mistakes, we’d never learn. I know that I still make mistakes with my written English, and if someone was to look over what I’ve written so far they would probably find a few. So if you don’t feel great about your written English, don’t worry about it but do something about it.
If your spoken English is not very good only you can do something about it. Lot’s of students at the IIS can speak English, so talk to them. Also, there are a lot of English teachers at the IIS, and I for one am willing to help. If you do want me to read your blog and point out any errors, free of charge, please feel free to send me a PM and I’ll get back to you.
